SINGERS WITH BACKING TRACKS / KARIOKE SESSIONS.

If you have your own backing tracks (on CD, Minidisc or cassette) it's a simple process of copying them onto one of the multitrack recorders and then adding your vocals. You can have as many 'takes' as you want (in the time available) and if you don't quite get the right performance in one go it can be pieced together from the individual takes (this is quite normal for any type of performer). Or, if you get it mostly up to the standard you hoped for and there's just a couple of lines to fix these can be 'dropped-in'. Neither way is better, it's simply about working swiftly to get you want you want as painlessly as possible!

Even if you know your words back to front (and hopefully the right way round too) it's always worth bringing a copy of the lyrics along - it makes the editing process simpler. It's not essential, most lyrics can be found on the Internet in a few seconds.

NEED BACKING TRACKS?

It depends on the song/s as to whether there would be need to be charges for providing the backing music you require but as often as not this service is provided within the inclusive rates shown at the bottom of the page. If it's something which is a little obscure or unusual that may have to be put together from scratch the cost can be discussed in advance.

BIRTHDAY GIFT?

This is a very common request; if you'd like to pay for some studio time as a surprise present for someone we can send you a gift voucher with details about Courtyard and the amount of time paid for. The session can then be booked in at a mutually convenient time.

BIRTHDAY PARTY?

This is also getting more and more popular. If you'd like to bring along a group of children as part of a Birthday celebration Courtyard can easily accommodate this. The main thing to consider is that the more people there are involved the less will probably get done! 5 or 6 is certainly fine; any more than that isn't a problem as far as space is concerned but depending on the ages of the participants it could slow down the 'creative process'. If the most important thing for those taking part is the experience (rather than the end result) this is less of an issue. If, on the other hand, you would like to get a result that sounds more like something you might hear on the radio you could consider having a 'solo' recording of one song and an ensemble/group recording of another.

There is plenty of comfortable seating both in the main recording area (including an original Biba sofa) & in an adjacent viewing room. This room can comfortably seat several adults/guests if the singer/s need the recording area to themselves. The session can be filmed and transferred to VHS or DVD (by prior arrangement) - the cost of this depends on the length of session and whether you would require any editing & DVD authoring /menus as well as the final finishing touch of adding the completed 'mix' of each song to the visuals.

Tea & coffee is available for the 'guests' and refreshments can be provided (again, by prior arrangement) for the 'participants' but if you're only booking a short session it's perhaps advisable to skip the latter (this all of course depending on ages... Cola and extra visits to the loo can slow things down a bit).
